Users Guide of Wooden Handle Tools

Use

Use it the right way. Don't use it for unsuitable work, shovels are designed to pry loose a shovelful of soil, not to pry up solid obstacles.

Storage

The wood handle will be cracking and splitting, warping or rotting if we expose them to sunlight and rain. So please store the tools inside–away from both sun and rain.

Care

For frequently used tools, we need to take steps to take care of them. Clean up stains, sand rough areas, and oil the handles.

How Do You Maintain a Shovel with a Wooden Handle?

Clean

First clean them thoroughly, removing all the dirt from both wood handles and metal tool surfaces.

Sand

Next, sand the wood tool handles with sandpaper or an orbital sander, making sure the entire surface is covered as you go to remove any damage.

Oil

Oil helps to preserve and beautify your wooden handle. Keep the handles clean and dry, and rub with linseed oil to preserve the wood. Make sure the linseed oil has cured before using it.
